Alpha Health Care (NZ) Limited
Wiri, Auckland
February 2023 – April 2023
Alpha Health Care is a biotech health supplement company that makes therapeutic products from medicinal fungi, herbal plant ingredients, marine life forms and nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables. This project involved building a physical containment facility to meet Ministry for Primary Industries PC2 security requirements within an existing warehouse at the company’s Wiri base.
Access to the site was via a single garage door, so all demolition, excavation, preparation, concrete pumping, steel rigging and insulated wall and ceiling panel installation had to be managed around this restriction – no mean feat on a job that called for more than 130m3 of concrete, 6650kg of reinforcing steel and 8850kg of structural steel. The proximity of a hygiene-sensitive live operation added complexity, but the project team put in place processes and procedures to minimise disruption, including to shared services.
Construction of the 380m2 facility required 22 specialist subcontractors and 5480 hours of Cassidy time, including self-performed formwork, carpentry and building work.
