This new commercial building in the heart of Ponsonby demonstrates what can be achieved on a very tight site with the help of clever design and engineering.
The five-level structure, which houses retail, office and hospitality tenants, has a footprint of only about 190m2 at ground level, but large cantilevers increase the area of the middle floors to about 250m2.
It’s built on reinforced concrete piles using a mix of structural steel and precast concrete, with a sophisticated façade that’s almost all brick, including the soffits.
Cassidy Construction’s in-house building information modelling (BIM) expertise was pivotal to the successful delivery of this unique building. Our three-dimensional digital modelling technology added value in all stages of the project, from de-risking constructability and design through detail and planning to the execution phase.
The result is a great-looking building that delivers a far bigger return than its small footprint would suggest.
