Manurewa, Auckland
December 2020 - May 2022
PROJECT CASE STUDY
The Blind and Low Vision School provides specialist education with a range of facilities tailored to suit their needs and Cassidy Construction was contracted to build the new Swimming Pool Complex at the Homai Campus.
This project involved the construction of a new 25m x 30m structural steel portal frame, LVL purlin and Kingspan clad building which houses two swimming pools, a fitness room, change rooms and associated plant rooms for the large Mechanical and Filtration components.
All swimming pool components were from Myrtha pools (stainless wall liners on a concrete floor membrane interior linings) which were fabricated in Italy. We were awarded this project in August 2020 and worked with the supplier and installer to get these to site in time to avoid delays from Covid-19, international fabrication, and shipping impacts.
The pool and building are designed for blind and low vision students so incorporates many specific features to suit the user. The construction of the complex caused no disruption to the campus and school remained operational throughout.
