BP Connect Bethlehem

PROJECT CASE STUDY

BP Oil NZ

Bethlehem, Tauranga

November 2019 - August 2020

This BP Connect service station in the Bethlehem town centre is in a prime location to service motorists travelling between Tauranga and Coromandel – but its proximity to State Highway 2 caused a few complications during construction.

When building the service station’s six-lane canopy and shop, we needed to work within tight constraints. On one side there was an operational shopping centre and on the other, the busy main road.

Challenges included the installation of a Cirtex rain detention tank under the new forecourt / entranceway, as well as the widening of a slip lane on State Highway 2.

Construction was also disrupted by the first Level 4 Covid lockdown, but our team worked closely with government regulations in order to resume work as soon as the country moved into Level 3.

Despite all this, we successfully managed multiple lines of communication with stakeholders (including AMP, BP and Tauranga Council) and met our deadlines without impeding surrounding users.
