At Marist School in Mt Albert we constructed a new 12-classroom block, plus a separate library.
Before we could begin building, an existing classroom block had to be demolished and three relocated classrooms established on-site to accommodate students during the project. The relocatable classrooms were successfully landed and ready for students at the start of the 2019 school year.
From here, we closed off an area of the school to ensure minimal disruption to school routines, and began work on the new classroom block and library.
Anchoring the heavy concrete foundations of the two-level classroom block was a challenging job due to the shallow layers of hard basalt rock we encountered.
The block has a steel-framed structure, with the first floor being concrete and a large portion of the cladding being architectural precast panels clipped to the steel structure.
We completed the project in time for students and teachers to move in at the start of the 2020 school year.
