Fonterra Brands NZ
Takanini, Auckland
October 2016 – April 2019
Over a three-year programme, we upgraded the plant at Fonterra Takanini to meet changes in compliance standards and improve on-site capacity and capability.
Early contractor involvement (ECI) allowed us to fully understand the client’s operational requirements and undertake comprehensive planning prior to starting site work. We added value through our detailed constructability analysis, our methodology and programming expertise and our cost budget proposals. Our phased works programme was carefully designed to minimise disruption to the plant’s ongoing operations.
Our work included building a new red-line change facility, including an extension over the operational milk-bottling area. We added a mezzanine floor with a hygiene room and tank, built new offices above a packaging area, and created a red-line hygiene-rated laboratory and control room. Other elements of this complex long-term project included a new chemical tanker unload bay, warehouse alterations, a trade waste tank foundation, a cooling tower structure and demolition involving asbestos materials.
