After successfully completing two similar projects for Z Energy, we were given the job of building the company’s first New Zealand fuel station under the new U-GO brand.
Our brief was to demolish an existing house, shop and workshop to make way for a four-pump self-service fuel station with a new forecourt and canopy and an auxiliary services building.
We also removed three redundant steel fuel tanks and installed two new 60,000 litre tanks. In doing so, we encountered unforeseen ground conditions and unknown in-ground structures. Although this temporarily slowed our progress, we worked with geotech and environmental engineers to manage the critical risks of bad ground, contamination and a high water table, and this enabled us to complete the project safely and efficiently.
