Creating opportunities
We work closely with schools in our area, sponsoring Gateway students to achieve their Site Safe qualifications and then welcoming them onto our sites one day a week so they can decide if they want a career in construction. All going well, this can lead to paid work in the school holidays, a four-year carpentry apprenticeship and even management roles.
We partner with the BCITO and EarnLearn programmes to provide apprenticeships to carpenters and drainlayers, and we offer graduate opportunities to recently qualified quantity surveyors, construction managers and engineers.
We work with Amotai and The Southern Initiative to consistently improve our engagement with Māori and Pasifika-owned companies, and also with the Ngā Puna Pukenga programme, which helps secure work for Aucklanders who find it difficult to get a job in civil construction and related industries.
