This project for Counties Energy involved seismic strengthening of two existing substations, at Tuakau and Ōpaheke.
Both concrete block switchrooms are located within outdoor switchyards. Our work included installing six-metre deep, 600mm diameter concrete piles around the external perimeter of each building, forming in-situ columns and beams, and installing structural steel members between these new elements.
All this was carried out while live operations continued around us. We self-performed all structural components, which allowed us to be flexible and responsive to site conditions.
