This seismic strengthening project for Counties Energy covers two sites: Tuakau and Ōpaheke.
Both sites feature existing concrete block switchrooms located within outdoor switchyards. Our scope includes installing 6m x 600mm diameter concrete piles around the external perimeter of each building, forming in-situ columns and beams, and installing structural steel members between these new elements.
All of this has been carried out while maintaining live operations around us. And we’re self-performing all structural components, which means our site team are really busy.
The project started in August, with both sites expected to be completed by mid-January 2026. Works on the Ōpaheke site are nearing completion.
