We’re pumped to have started our next Watercare Assets Upgrades and Renewals (AUR) project, which involves refurbishing one of four anaerobic digester tanks at Rosedale Wastewater Treatment Plant on Auckland’s North Shore.
Our brief is to drain, desludge and clean the tank so both structural and mechanical condition assessments can be completed. The entire floating gas holder cover will be abrasive blasted and recoated before a new plywood and waterproofing membrane roof is installed. Mechanical refurbishment and upgrades will also be made to pipework and control valves to align to the future Thermal Hydrolysis Project.
We will then complete the control system programming and cold commissioning with the Watercare operations team.
With a large volume of the work being completed within the enclosed tank, everyone on our team has had extensive confined space and gas detection training. This may be high-risk work, but we have planned well to keep everyone and the plant safe.
